Lots Of Betting Options This WeekendWith only 10 days left in the regular season, six American League teams are still battling for four playoff spots. And with no games between contenders in the junior circuit this weekend, all six of those teams will need to come up big versus out-of-the-running squads in order to hold onto their position, or remain in the postseason hunt. In the AL East, the New York Yankees host the Toronto Blue Jays, while the Boston Red Sox travel to Baltimore to play the Orioles. The AL East title looked like it was Boston's to lose a few weeks ago, and lose it they might. Having caught all the way up, New York's goal now will be to grab a bit of a lead in the division before the two teams meet in a season-ending, three-game set at Fenway Park. Over in the AL Central, a series win by the Cleveland Indians over the Chicago White Sox this week has kept the Tribe in the running for a division title. As well, Cleveland's surge has made them the leader in the AL Wild Card race. The Indians play the hapless Royals in Kansas City this weekend, while the reeling White Sox face the Twins in Chicago. Like the Yankees and Red Sox, Cleveland and Chicago also meet in a huge, season-ending set that could determine the division winner. Out in the AL West, the Oakland Athletics need to turn it up a notch if they want to remain a playoff contender. Trailing the Los Angeles Angels in the division, and pretty much out of the Wild Card race, Oakland hosts the Tampa Bay Devil Rays this weekend, while the Angels get the Texas Rangers in Anaheim. The A's and Angels then meet early next week in a crucial showdown series. Things are a bit more settled in the National League. Atlanta, St. Louis, and San Diego are the likely winners of the three divisions, with the Cardinals already having clinched and the Braves and Padres whittling down their magic numbers. In the NL Wild Card race, the Houston Astros and Philadelphia Phillies are the top dogs, with the Florida Marlins still in the picture as well. The Phillies play in Cincinnati this weekend, the Astros are in Chicago, and the Marlins will be visiting Atlanta. The biggest matchup on the gridiron sees the New England Patriots traveling to Pittsburgh to take on Ben Roethlisberger and the Steelers. The Patriots were dumped 27-17 by the Carolina Panthers in Week 2, and come into this game with a 1-1 record. The Steelers topped the Houston Texans 27-7 in Week 2, and are a perfect 2-0 on the year. The oddsmakers like Pittsburgh's chances of improving to 3-0 on Sunday, as they've listed the Steelers as 3-point home favorites. Elsewhere, five teams will be looking for their first win of the year on Sunday: The Packers (3.5-point underdogs versus Tampa Bay), Raiders (7.5-point underdogs at Philadelphia), Vikings (3.5-point favorites versus New Orleans), Cardinals (6-point underdogs at Seattle), and Chargers (6-point favorites versus New York Giants). On the flip side, five teams will try to stay unbeaten this weekend: The Colts (13.5-point favorites versus Cleveland), Buccaneers (3.5-point favorites at Green Bay), Bengals (3-point favorites at Chicago), Giants (6-point underdogs at San Diego), and of course the Steelers. Around campus, there are four matchups of ranked teams on Week 4 of the college football schedule: No. 21 Iowa takes on No. 8 Ohio State, No. 15 Georgia Tech plays No. 4 Virginia Tech, No. 10 Tennessee battles No. 3 LSU (delayed until Monday night), and No. 1 USC looks to stay unbeaten versus No. 24 Oregon. Give the edge in those four games to the higher-ranked teams, at least according to the oddsmakers. Ohio State is a 7-point favorite, Virginia Tech is an 11.5-point favorite, LSU is a 7-point favorite, and top-ranked USC are a big 21-point favorite. If you'd rather try your luck with some potential blowouts, there are plenty of those to choose from on the college sched this weekend. No. 13 California is a 30-point favorite versus New Mexico State, No. 9 Louisville is a 20.5-point favorite in their game against South Florida, No. 23 Virginia is favored by 24.5 points versus Duke, East Carolina has been given 22 points versus West Virginia, and No. 5 Florida is the choice by 22.5 points against Kentucky. And finally, if racing's your thing, then you have a couple of choices this weekend. NASCAR continues its Chase for the Nextel Cup with the MBNA RacePoints 400 at Dover International Speedway, while the Formula 1 series hits the track in Sao Paulo for the 2005 Brazilian Grand Prix.
