Talk about asleep at the switch or what, but there I was last night standing right beside my partner as she booked a dinner party for Saturday night! What could I have been thinking about and why did it slip my mind that the NFL was serving up a triple header this Saturday the third weekend in December?
You have to admire the brain trust at the NFL’s headquarters for their infinite wisdom in making sure that millions of football junkies like myself can get their football fix one day earlier then normal these days and all three games have huge playoff implications.
I expect a frenzy of activity this weekend as the NFL playoff picture heats up in some chill locales. “This time a year we notice our customers like to play the over/under totals with all the unsettling weather in the East"Action begins at 1:30 pm EST Saturday as the suddenly surging Tampa Bay Bucs head to Foxboro and a date with the Super Bowl Champion Patriots.
Tampa Bay is 5-2 on the road and their defense could be a handful for the injury depleted offensive line of New England’s but I do not like youngsters Simms and Williams of the Buccaneers playing in these adverse conditions.
Game number two has the Chiefs of KC having to battle a tough NFC East team for the second week in a row. Last week the Cowboys, the week before Denver and now New York, talk about a tough schedule! I like KC in this spot however as I do not see the Giants defense being able to shut down the running attack of Kansas City.
Hopefully by the time the third game of the triple header rolls around, you have convinced your better half that the holiday season means NFL Football and you get to see the Broncos face the dysfunctional Bills in the “chicken wing capital of the world and that would be Buffalo.
Denver is rolling while Buffalo is in a deep freeze and this game could get ugly very early, so make sure you have a fresh batch off Egg Nog close by
