The Breeders' Cup pre-entries for 2005 were taken on Oct. 17, 2005 and it looks like an excellent mix of favorites and intriguing longshots!
Some great wagering opportunities are sure to reveal themselves by the time the official entries are drawn later this week.
Adieu has been made the 3-1 choice to beat Folklore in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies but her numbers are soft so we'll likely be looking for another one of the ladies to improve at the right time and price.

First Samurai is listed at 8/5 in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile and he could be something special, but we'll have to watch his workouts this week to make sure he's on top of his game.
There's no question that last year's Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf winner Ouija Board, listed at 5/2, is the class of that race again this year, but she may not be coming into this year's running quite as good after overcoming a splint and a quarter crack earlier this season. Another one who needs to be watched closely.
The Breeders' Cup Sprint is headed by undefeated monster Lost In The Fog, who at even money is the shortest priced horse on the card. His perfect 10-for-10 record is on the line in this race and he has NEVER experienced the kind of class pressure he'll face on Breeders' Cup Day.
Leroidesanimaux (Brz), the favorite in the Breeders' Cup Mile at 5/2, hasn't lost since his first start in the USA way back on January 7, 2004. The Brazilian-bred is 8-for-8 since then and comes into this race off five solid Graded Stakes wins in a row, the last being a romp in Woodbine's Grade 1 Atto Mile.
The Breeders' Cup Distaff could be the most wide open race on the card despite the presence of 5/2 defending champ Ashado, who comes into the race off a game win in the Grade 1 Beldame over fellow Distaff entrant Happy Ticket.
The 1 1/2 mile Breeders' Cup Turf Turf is another wide open affair with European star Azamour listed at 4-1 over the Billy Mott trained Shakespeare and Arc de Triomphe third place finisher Bago at 8-1. Pick'em!
And finally we get to the Breeders' Cup Classic, which should be the best race of the day. At least three horses are coming off romping wins over strong competition, making this race incredibly tough to pick. Saint Liam has been made the 3-1 choice over Rock Hard Ten (7/2) and Borrego (4-1), who was smashing in his recent Jockey Club Gold Cup win over the track.
While the favorites look logical, they also look beatable - which means big payoffs in the multi-race best like the Pick 4, Ultra Pick 6, and rolling Pick 3s - if - you can figure who will fire and who won't. I say - let the longshots roll!
